Four teams are ready to get Matheus Cunha, who is on his way out of Atletico Madrid and is headed for the Premier League

WHAT TRANSPIRED?: Leeds and Arsenal are the top teams that shows interest in the 23-year-old. Leeds are already in active talks with the player’s representation to find out whether he would be open to a January transfer. Gabriel Jesus’ World Cup injury forced him to miss about three months of action, and Arsenal is currently searching for a replacement, though their desire is not as strong as it once was.

THE BROAD VIEW: In the competition to sign him, the two teams have joined Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Wolves. The pair have already gotten in touch with his agents to talk about a potential move. Currently, Wolves are the favorites to sign him, but Villa have been interested in him for months as well.

The Brazilian international, whose contract with Atletico runs through 2026, hasn’t made up his mind about his future, but given that Atletico is willing to let him depart in January, all signs point to the Premier League.

NEXT MOVE FOR MATHEUS CUNHA: Cunha has been playing a limited role this season for Atletico, and despite starting in just two of his 11 La Liga games and none of his five Champions League outings, he is still without a goal. He’ll be eager to make a move in January to regain his form and play regularly for the first team.
