Big Money Transfer Shines While Regular Partner Sits Out Injured

Moises Caicedo had a rough start at Chelsea, but he’s bouncing back strong, especially with his usual midfield buddy, Enzo Fernandez, sidelined with an injury.

Despite the pressure of his whopping £115 million transfer fee, Caicedo has been doing great lately. In the past few games against Tottenham, West Ham, and Nottingham Forest, he’s been outstanding.

In the matches against local rivals, Caicedo really stood out. Even when things got tough against Forest, he didn’t back down. In fact, at the City Ground, he was passing with precision, touching the ball a lot, and his quick pass set up a goal for Nicolas Jackson in a 3-2 victory.

His recent form looks promising, but it’s a bit worrying for Chelsea that he’s shining while Fernandez is out.

When Chelsea got both Caicedo and Fernandez, they thought it would be a game-changer, but that hasn’t been the case so far. In fact, Chelsea’s performance with the duo hasn’t been as good as when Caicedo played with someone else.

It’s not like Fernandez isn’t skilled — he’s a top-notch player who won the World Cup with Argentina. But he’s been playing through injury, which might be affecting his game.

Coach Mauricio Pochettino has been supportive of Fernandez, but he’s noticed an improvement when Caicedo’s been paired with Gallagher instead. This has raised concerns that Fernandez and Caicedo might be too similar in playing style.

To add to the confusion, there’s talk of Gallagher possibly being sold this summer to help with finances. But for now, Pochettino’s midfield setup seems to be working well, especially for Caicedo.

Pochettino is feeling positive about Chelsea’s chances of making it to Europe next season, especially with Caicedo playing a big role.

“I expect more from him even if he is doing well,” he said. “Next season, I have no doubt he will be much better. He is one of the players with room to improve.”
