Pochettino calls on Chelsea to address crisis as problems mount again

Mauricio Pochettino says Chelsea really need to step up their game. They’ve got a whopping 14 players out injured before Tottenham’s match at Stamford Bridge.

Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi are the latest additions to the injury list. Sadly, none of the regular first-team players are expected to be back for Thursday’s game. Christopher Nkunku and Levi Colwill might be close to returning, but it’s unsure if they’ll make it to the squad.

Reece James, Enzo Fernandez, Raheem Sterling, and Ben Chilwell are among the key players sidelined with injuries.

Pochettino said, “It’s not good news because we can’t get any players back from the previous list, and now we have two more, Thiago and Disasi, out for tomorrow.”

He added, “Facing Tottenham is a big challenge. But it’s also a good opportunity for some young players to be on the bench and maybe get a chance to play. It’s about showing them what it means to be in the Chelsea first team.”

Silva might have played his last game for Chelsea after announcing his departure on Monday. Pochettino praised him, saying, “He’s been an amazing guy and professional. Everyone at the club will miss him, but he’s happy with his Chelsea career.”

Chelsea is still in the running to qualify for the Europa League or Conference League, but they’ve got only five games left to catch up with Manchester United and Newcastle.

Pochettino admits the club needs to do better with their fitness record this season, which has been marred by injuries. He said, “We need to be honest. There’s always room for improvement. We’re all responsible and can do better. Sometimes things happen that are hard to explain.”

He added, “We’re working hard to improve. We have great medical staff, but sometimes circumstances make it tough. We need to communicate better, strategize, and use all our knowledge to improve.
