Pochettino makes Chelsea vow after criticising ‘immature’ players

Mauricio Pochettino has promised to be more careful with what he says and to focus on being positive about Chelsea’s situation.

Last week, after Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield United, Pochettino said his players weren’t mature enough. He felt disappointed as his team lost their lead in the last moments of the game.

Chelsea hasn’t been doing well lately, drawing with Sheffield United and Burnley, and barely winning against Manchester United. This has hurt their chances of making it to Europe next season.

Pochettino knows he needs to change his approach because of all the injuries his team is facing and because his squad is quite young. He wants to be more positive and supportive of his players.

He said, “This season is tough for us because of all the injuries we’re dealing with. But I think we should stop talking about it so much in press conferences. We need to accept the situation and be positive. We have some talented young players from our academy, and we need to focus on them.”

Some players like Axel Disasi and Enzo Fernandez are injured, and others like Raheem Sterling and Robert Sanchez might miss games due to illness. However, Ben Chilwell might be back on the bench soon, which is good news.

Pochettino said, “Chilwell has been training partially with the team, and we’re hoping he can be on the bench for Monday’s game. As for Disasi and Fernandez, we’re assessing their injuries. They haven’t trained with the group since Sheffield, so we’re not sure if they’ll be available.”

Because of all the injuries, Pochettino has had to rely on young academy players. He believes in their talent and thinks they’ll get a chance to play in upcoming games.

“We’re closely connected with our academy,” he said. “Because of the circumstances, we’ve been bringing in young players to train with us every week. This is a great opportunity for them. Chelsea has one of the best academies globally, and we need to take care of these young talents. Some of them might even be in the squad for Monday’s game, despite being just 16, 17, or 18 years old.”
