Pochettino questions Southgate over Chilwell as fresh injury confirmed

Mauricio Pochettino was surprised to see Ben Chilwell start both of England’s recent matches, especially since Chilwell ended up getting injured during the game against Belgium. Chilwell hurt his knee, and now he’s one of many players dealing with injuries. On top of that, some players like Robert Sanchez, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Trevoh Chalobah also got injured during the international break.

Reece James, Christopher Nkunku, and Levi Colwill are still recovering from injuries too. With so many players out, Chelsea might have up to 11 players unavailable for their upcoming game against Burnley.

When asked about the injuries, Pochettino said they still need to check on players like Chilwell to see if they can play. He mentioned that Enzo hasn’t returned yet after playing for Argentina.

Chilwell played in both games for England, even though he hadn’t played much for Chelsea recently due to injury. Pochettino didn’t expect Chilwell to start both matches, so it was surprising for him. Unfortunately, Chilwell got injured in the last moments of the Belgium game, which adds to Chelsea’s problems.

On a brighter note, Cole Palmer, who got injured while on international duty, is doing better and might be available for the next game if he continues training well.

However, there’s sad news for Romeo Lavia, who won’t be able to play for the rest of the season due to injury. Pochettino mentioned that it’s tough for Lavia because he hasn’t had much playing time since joining the club.
