Pochettino uncertain over Chelsea bosses’ verdict on his future

Mauricio Pochettino has said he’s not sure what the people in charge at Chelsea think of how he’s doing as coach.

He’s feeling the heat after losing 5-0 to Arsenal and getting knocked out of the FA Cup. Chelsea’s chances of making it to Europe are looking grim, and they won’t be winning any trophies this season. On top of that, they’ve got 12 players injured, though Cole Palmer is back for the Aston Villa game.

When asked if he’s got the full support of Chelsea’s sporting directors, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, Pochettino said, “You’d have to ask them. Honestly, I don’t know what they’re thinking.”

He also said he hasn’t talked to Chelsea’s owners Todd Boehly or Behdad Eghbali lately. Pochettino believes some criticism is fair, but he thinks things like recruitment, the club’s structure, and injuries aren’t his fault.

“I’m responsible for how the team plays,” he said. “But there are things I can’t control. I’m not the one making all the decisions here. If I was, then sure, judge me. But that’s not how it is.”

“We’re here to help the club in any way we can,” he added. “We’re committed to the project and the club.”

Pochettino isn’t sure how the Chelsea bosses will react to the team’s poor performance this season. The club was hoping for a shot at the Champions League and maybe even a trophy.

“We need to trust each other,” Pochettino said. “The players need to trust us, the owners need to trust us, and the sporting directors need to understand that we’re the ones working directly with the players.”

As for whether he should have more say in transfers, Pochettino said, “I don’t know. We’ll have to talk about it. Right now, we’re focused on finishing the season, but we’re open to helping the club however they need us.
