Pochettino: VAR has damaged English football, it’s so painful

Mauricio Pochettino says that VAR has made English football worse. He said this after a late goal by Chelsea was canceled against Aston Villa.

Chelsea seemed like they were going to win after Axel Disasi’s header went in off the crossbar in the fourth minute of added time, making the score 3-2. This was impressive because they were losing 2-0 at halftime.

However, the goal was canceled because Benoit Badiashile was said to have fouled Diego Carlos before the goal. This decision came after VAR suggested the referee review it on the field.

Pochettino told TNT Sports: “Everyone who watched the game will feel sad.

“The referee said it was a foul and canceled the goal. Then they went to VAR to check. The referee’s decision is unbelievable and ridiculous. It’s hard to accept. Two weeks ago, in the FA Cup semifinal against Man City, there was a handball, but it wasn’t a penalty, and the referee didn’t check it.

“It hurts because it’s hurting English football. I think Villa’s players and fans didn’t understand why the goal was canceled.

“They said it was a foul. But if we call every challenge like this a foul, we won’t finish the game with 11 players.

We can discuss the performance or the decision, but it’s harming the game.
