PSG target move for Chelsea defender Colwill amid Liverpool interest

Paris Saint-Germain really like Levi Colwill, who plays for Chelsea.

Chelsea says they won’t even think about selling Colwill. He’s young, just 20 years old, and he’s happy at Chelsea. He recently signed a new six-year contract.

But PSG and Liverpool are keeping an eye on Colwill, just in case Chelsea need to sell some of their young players to manage their money better.

Chelsea might sell other young players like Conor Gallagher, Ian Maatsen, Armando Broja, and Trevoh Chalobah in the summer. They need the money to buy new players, like a striker, a center back, and a left back.

Chelsea has to follow some rules about making a profit in the Premier League. Selling young academy players helps them make money.

Colwill has been important for Chelsea this season. He’s been playing a lot of games under the coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Last summer, Liverpool and Manchester City thought about trying to sign Colwill. But he decided to stay at Chelsea. City signed Josko Gvardiol instead.

Brighton also tried to get Colwill last summer, but Chelsea said no.

Now, PSG wants to sign Colwill too. Luis Campos, their sporting director, is really interested in him.

First, PSG wants to sign Leny Yoro, who’s 18 and plays as a right-sided center back for Lille. Real Madrid also wants Yoro.

Then, PSG will think about signing a left-sided player, like Colwill, in 2025.

Teams hope Chelsea will keep struggling so they have to sell more young players to make money.

Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital bought Chelsea in 2022, they’ve spent more than £1 billion on players. But Chelsea might miss out on Champions League money for the second year in a row.

Last summer, Chelsea sold about £400 million worth of players to make sure they didn’t get into too much trouble. They finished 12th in the Premier League that season.
