Hey everyone, it’s Carabao Cup Final week!
We’ve got Chris Kavanagh as the referee for Sunday’s big match against Liverpool. It’s been almost two years since we’ve been to Wembley, so it’s a pretty exciting time for us. Both teams are gearing up for what promises to be a nail-biting final.
Kavanagh has only officiated two Chelsea games this season: our 2-2 draw with Arsenal and our 2-1 loss to Manchester United back in December. On the other side, he’s been in charge of four Liverpool games, with two wins and two draws under his belt.
Now that we’re in the final, VAR (that’s Video Assistant Referee) is joining the action for the first time this season. John Brooks will be handling VAR duties, and fun fact, he was the ref for our 6-1 win over Middlesbrough in the semis.
