Caicedo stated in a statement on Friday that he intends to leave the team.

Moises Caicedo might yet leave Brighton before the January transfer window ends, according to manager Roberto De Zerbi.

This month, offers for the Ecuadorian international were turned down by both Arsenal and Chelsea.

The 21-year-old made it clear in a statement issued on Friday night that he intends to vacate the AMEX Stadium before the deadline on Tuesday.

Caciedo was left off the Brighton roster for Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round match against Liverpool, and his manager was questioned about it before the game.

De Zerbi emphasized that the club wants to keep hold of its star midfielder, but he also acknowledged that they will look for the best possible “solution” for everyone.

Moses is a good man, and we’ll see what happens tomorrow and the following days, De Zerbi said ITV.

‘We hope he will stay with us until the end of the season but this is a question for the club and Moises.

After making his statement, De Zerbi was questioned about if Brighton had any chance of keeping the player. He repeated: ‘Moises is a good guy.

‘I think in life you can make mistakes. For every one there are many solutions and we will see the best solution for the club and for him and for us.’

According to reports, both Chelsea’s earlier-in-the-month £55 million deal and Arsenal’s £60 million offer for the midfielder were rejected.

According to sources, Brighton might profit if they receive a £90 million bid from the London clubs, who are planning improved offers.

In a statement released on Twitter on Friday night, Caicedo said: ‘I am grateful to Mr. Bloom [owner and chairman] and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them. I always play football with a smile and with heart.

‘I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador. My dream always to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador.

‘I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful.

‘The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take up this magnificent opportunity.’
