Silent dressing room speaks volumes as issues in every area lead to another Chelsea implosion

Chelsea left Sheffield feeling pretty down after getting a reality check from their defensive mistakes.

They were flying high after beating Manchester United 4-3 on Thursday, but then they went and let the lead slip twice against the team at the bottom of the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino wasn’t happy with his players. He said they were too inexperienced to handle two big wins in just four days.

It was a harsh thing to say for everyone at Chelsea.

Pochettino’s team looked like they were going to win, but then a substitute player, Benoit Badiashile, missed a crucial header. That allowed Sheffield United to keep the ball in play. Then, Mykhailo Mudryk lost a battle in the air, Trevoh Chalobah made a mistake, and Badiashile couldn’t keep up with the attacker, Oli McBurnie.

Axel Disasi didn’t make a mistake for the equalizer, but he didn’t have a great game either. Even the experienced Thiago Silva made an error earlier in the game but got away with it.

But it’s not just the defense’s fault. The goalkeeper, Djordje Petrovic, messed up for Sheffield’s first goal. Also, there are doubts about Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke’s ability to press, and Nicolas Jackson didn’t play well either.

The most worrying thing was seeing Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo getting beaten in midfield by Sheffield United’s players. Even though Chelsea had some expensive and talented players, they were outplayed in every way.

Fernandez lost the ball 23 times, more than anyone else. He also didn’t do well in duels and didn’t pass accurately.

Pochettino has tried different formations but hasn’t found a solution. Chelsea have let in two or more goals in their last seven games in all competitions. They haven’t kept a clean sheet away in the league since October, and they’ve already conceded as many goals this season as they did last season.

Pochettino thinks his team struggles mentally against weaker opponents, and the players seemed shocked by the result.

Madueke said the changing room was silent after the game. Losing the lead was really disappointing for them. They often drop points when they should be winning. They have good games like against United, but then they mess up in the next one. That’s their biggest problem – they can’t keep the momentum going after a big win.
