Todd Boehly Backing: Pochettino’s Chelsea Future Amid Transfer Strategy Reveal, as he explains key Chelsea decision

The owner of Chelsea Football Club has been talking about why they spend so much money on new players.

Todd Boehly thinks that the more than £1 billion the club has spent on players is like putting money into something that will give them back more money later. He says most of the players they bought are still worth a lot.

Since Boehly and his group took over Chelsea in May 2022, they’ve brought in players like Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Cole Palmer.

Some people have been criticizing the new owners because Chelsea hasn’t been doing as well lately, even though they broke records for spending on players in the past few years.

But now, with the team doing better under the coaching of Mauricio Pochettino, Boehly says their spending is like an investment. He talked about this at a big meeting in Qatar.

He says they’re not just spending money, they’re investing it. Some players they buy might become worth more money, some might become worth less, but overall, their investments have been good.

Boehly also said they’re being patient with Pochettino, who might stay as the coach. He thinks it takes time for a team to become really good, just like when they bought the Dodgers baseball team in 2013. At first, they didn’t do well, but they kept working at it and eventually became successful.

He believes that having a young team with players signed on for longer contracts is important for the team’s future success. He mentioned that in European football, contracts are usually not kept until the last year, so they either extend the contract or figure out what’s best for the player and the team.

Boehly says they’re committed to their plan for Chelsea, even when things aren’t going well. He pointed out that since Boxing Day, Chelsea has been one of the top teams in the Premier League, which makes him feel more confident about the team’s future.
