Big News for Football Fans: Spain’s Euro 2024 Squad Update

Tottenham’s Pedro Porro isn’t going to be playing for Spain in the upcoming European Championship, but Marc Cucurella from Chelsea is still in the running.

The coach of Spain’s national team, Luis de la Fuente, picked 29 players for now, but he’s got to choose just 26 by June 7. Porro, who’s been doing great at Tottenham, didn’t make it, even though he’s been a key player this season, scoring and assisting plenty.

He played for Spain in March and did well, but now he’s not even on the preliminary team list, which is pretty surprising. On the other hand, Cucurella’s back in the game after a tough time with injuries and criticism, and he’s helped Chelsea get back on track.

Cucurella’s not the only Premier League player on Spain’s list. There’s also Arsenal’s goalie David Raya and Manchester City’s midfielder Rodri. But Pau Torres from Aston Villa didn’t get picked.

Some young talents from Barcelona, like Fermin Lopez, got called up too, even though they’ve never played for the senior team before. And Ayoze Perez from Real Betis got his first chance to join the team at 30 years old.

Instead of Porro, the coach chose veteran Jesus Navas and Dani Carvajal from Real Madrid as right-back options. Some other well-known players didn’t make the list either.

Spain’s got a tough group in the tournament, nicknamed the ‘Group of Death’. They’ll start against Croatia, then play Italy and Albania. It’s going to be an exciting summer for football!
