Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho recently stirred up some talk among fans by suggesting that Tottenham’s captain, Heung-min Son, could do really well playing for some of the top teams in the world. These teams include big names like Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City.

Son has been a key player for Spurs for about nine years now. He joined the team back in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen, and since then, he’s scored a whopping 162 goals and assisted 83 times in various competitions. He’s been through different managers during his time at Spurs, including Mourinho.

Before, Son and Harry Kane formed a great attacking duo for Spurs. But when Kane left for Bayern Munich last year, Son stepped up and became the new captain under the new boss, Ange Postecoglou. He’s been doing a fantastic job leading the team and has scored 17 goals and made nine assists this season.

Even though Son’s contract with Tottenham is until 2025, Mourinho’s comments got people thinking. Especially because Tottenham started the season strong but then struggled to keep up that momentum. Mourinho said Son is so good that he could easily play for top teams like Manchester City or Liverpool, even though he’s doing great at Tottenham.

Mourinho, who managed Tottenham from 2019 to 2021, thinks highly of Son. He believes Son’s style of play is so versatile that he could fit in well with any top team, whether in England or abroad.

And despite what Mourinho said, he clarified that during his time at Tottenham, he always wanted Son to stay with the team.
