England’s coach, Sarina Wiegman, is pretty pumped about Millie Bright coming back to the team after a knee injury kept her out for five months. She’s also giving props to Aggie Beever-Jones, a young player from Chelsea, who’s been killing it in the Women’s Super League, scoring 11 goals in 15 games.

Wiegman is calling up a 24-player squad for upcoming Euro 2025 qualifiers against France, and later against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden. She’s particularly excited about Aggie’s progress and is eager to see her shine on the field.

This squad announcement marks the first since Rachel Daly, a striker from Aston Villa, announced her retirement from international play after eight years. Wiegman feels the absence but respects Daly’s decision to focus on club football.

She’s thrilled about Bright’s return after her injury layoff, emphasizing the boost it gives to the team’s morale. Wiegman acknowledges the tough challenge ahead in the Euro 2025 qualifiers, especially against France, but she’s looking forward to the competition and the unpredictability of the games.

Despite Bright’s return, Leah Williamson remains the nominal captain, a role she’s held while Bright was out with an injury last year.
