Women’s Champions League: Emma Hayes fires Chelsea warning ahead of Ajax visit

Emma Hayes wants her Chelsea team to stay focused and not get too comfortable as they try to get into the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League.

Chelsea is ahead 3-0 against Ajax before the second leg at Stamford Bridge. But Hayes is saying they shouldn’t underestimate Ajax, who have nothing to lose.

Hayes says the fear of losing or not making it to the semi-finals is a stronger motivator than just wanting to win. She’s stressing that nobody in their team should think the game is already won just because they’re ahead 3-0. That would be a big mistake.

She also mentions that when a team doesn’t have anything to lose, they play more freely and can be very dangerous opponents.

Mayra Ramirez, a Colombian striker, is ready to play for Chelsea. If they make it to the semi-finals, they’ll face either Barcelona or Brann from Norway.
