Chelsea Transfer Update: Julian Alvarez Out of Reach Says Club President

Chelsea is on the lookout for a new striker, and Julian Alvarez from Manchester City is the latest name popping up in the rumor mill.

The club is eager to add a fresh face to their attacking lineup, especially after Enzo Maresca has taken charge. They’re setting their sights on a top-notch forward to boost the team.

Nicolas Jackson, who plays up front for Chelsea, had an okay first year, scoring 14 times in the Premier League. Whoever joins the team will be vying for a spot in the starting lineup alongside Jackson.

Victor Osimhen of Napoli is also on Chelsea’s radar, but his hefty £113 million price might be too much for the Blues.

Another potential recruit is Benjamin Sesko. Even though Arsenal seems to have a head start in the chase for the young star, Chelsea hasn’t given up hope of signing him. Sesko’s contract has a £56 million buy-out clause, and Chelsea might just go for it.

Evan Ferguson from Brighton has caught Chelsea’s eye too, but they probably won’t pursue the 19-year-old this time around.

Alvarez hasn’t been getting much playtime at City, even though he’s a World Cup winner and has scored 36 goals in 103 games since joining from River Plate in 2022. With Erling Haaland leading the line and winning back-to-back Premier League Golden Boots, it’s tough competition.

Atletico Madrid showed interest in Alvarez, but their president thinks he’ll stay put at City.

Meanwhile, Chelsea has already made a move this summer by signing defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a four-year deal from Fulham, marking the first acquisition under Maresca.
