Pep Guardiola with a ‘plan’ in case Arsenal win their remaining three games

Nedum Onuoha claims that Pep Guardiola’s team will not be affected by Arsenal’s victory on Newcastle

Nedum Onuoha, a former Manchester City defender, has cautioned that Pep Guardiola has a “plan” in the event that Arsenal wins its final three Premier League games.

The remaining three Premier League games for the second-placed Gunners will be against Brighton, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves. They are presently only one point behind league leaders City.

With a game in hand and four games remaining, Guardiola’s team—champions in four of the previous five seasons—will play Everton, Chelsea, Brighton, and Brentford.

However, with Arsenal’s victory at third-place Newcastle United on Sunday and City’s focus on the Champions League and FA Cup, some have argued that Mikel Arteta’s club is once again on the upswing.

When asked about their victory over Newcastle and what effect it might have on City, the north London club is attempting to win the cup for the first time in 19 years. Onuoha responds that it will be ‘irrelevant’ to the league leaders.

‘Given how successful he has been in the past, Pep Guardiola will have a plan in place which will revolve around Arsenal winning all their games,’ Onuoha told Sky Sports.

‘If there is rotation [against Everton] it will be for reasons other than results which are out of his control. He will control what he can.

‘I fancied Arsenal to win [at Newcastle]. For as good as Newcastle have been, Arsenal could finish the season on 90 points.

‘Man City will expect Arsenal to get to that, and they are on track to get 91 points currently.

‘Seeing Arsenal win away somewhere, where people thought they might lose, is irrelevant.

‘At the end of the day, they are going to put points on the board, because that is what they have consistently done.

‘For Pep Guardiola, it won’t change his ideas on rotation or plans.

‘It’s a cliché that every game is a final, but in some ways it is because if you lose one, before you know it your dreams are up in the air.’
