Portuguese wonderkid “too expensive” for Chelsea this window

Antonio Silva, the Portuguese international and Benfica defender, is not likely to join Chelsea or Manchester United this window.

Fabrizio Romano reported that Manchester United have been watching Silva closely.

Chelsea are also keen on the youngster.

Silva is a talented player, so it makes sense that top clubs, especially those with a history of signing Portuguese players like Chelsea and Manchester United, would want him.

But Fabrizio Romano said on Caught Offside that Benfica are not willing to let go of the 20-year-old this window.

He added: “One deal that I don’t see happening this January is Antonio Silva.”

“Even though there are rumours about Chelsea, I haven’t heard anything new and all sources say it will be very hard to do a deal in January because Benfica don’t want to sell him,” Romano said.

“Manchester United have seen him play many times and he is one of their targets but not for now, he is probably too pricey in January.”

It seems that both clubs cannot afford Silva right now, but they will keep an eye on him for a possible move in the summer.
