Chelsea extend long-term contracts for Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk into their thirties

Chelsea recently made some big decisions about two of their players’ contracts. They decided to keep Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk around for a while longer. Enzo’s contract will last until 2032, and Mykhailo’s will run until 2031. That’s a long time! Enzo will be 31 and Mykhailo will be 30 when their contracts finally end.

Chelsea signed Enzo from Benfica and Mykhailo from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023. They paid a lot of money for them! Enzo cost £106.8 million, while Mykhailo’s price tag was £88.5 million.

It’s a bit surprising that Chelsea extended their contracts so early. Usually, teams wait until the end of a player’s contract to decide if they want to keep them. But Chelsea must have had good reasons for doing it.

Another player, Lewis Hall, also had his contract extended. But he’s on loan to Newcastle for now, and it looks like he’ll be staying there permanently for £28 million.

The Football Association (FA) recently released some interesting information. They shared details about Enzo, Mykhailo, and Lewis, along with how much money Chelsea paid to agents. Chelsea spent a whopping £75.1 million on agents’ fees in the past year!

In comparison, Manchester City spent £60.6 million, Manchester United spent £34 million, Liverpool spent £31.5 million, and Arsenal spent £24.7 million on agent fees.

Chelsea also published their financial accounts recently. They reported a pre-tax loss of £91.1 million for the 2022-2023 season. That’s a big loss, but it’s better than the £121.4 million loss they had the year before. They say they’re still following the rules set by the Premier League for finances, though.
